Happy New Year 2010

Happy New Year! It is difficult to believe that it is 2010! It seems yesterday we were worried about our computers breaking when we rang in the year 2000! What a decade it has been. We rang in the New Year of 2000 as newly weds, and now we have been married over a decade! That is seriously amazing! In 2000, we were living in an apartment with just our cat, and moved into our 1st home in August 2000. Now we are newly into our second home with our 3 kids (and a different cat).

As always, we look back on the previous year's goals (since Resolutions are rarely kept, we make GOALS), and see how we did. We did try to buy the bear minimum, but can always do better. We did invest more, especially for the kids. All of the kids are now invested in Berkshire Hathoway as well as many other less expensive stocks. We are putting their Christmas money this year into the stock market, too, investing in special stocks for them. Chris and I could do better investing in the next year. Obviously, we did move - check. Limit computer time - Chris has done great with this since he did not have a computer from September to December. I do get on the computer less, but there is always room for improvement. We moved, so we did not need a deck for the neighbors to throw hotdogs or poop onto. We did take a couple family trips, but Chris and I have yet to book a trip for the two of us. Primarily we have been so busy with the move and stuff that it just got pushed back a bit. We still would like to take one, though, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We did not get to visit the grandparents every month. Again, our home selling and moving interfered with that. We did visit them often, though. And, lastly, I did run a 1/2 marathon. Note: I do not have that as a goal this year!

Now...the 2010 Goals:

1. Invest more, spend less. This will be difficult to do in a home that requires a lot of work (Um, it does not even have a coat closet! And, then there are the many windows that need to be covered).

2. Finish the Austin 2008 & 2009 photo book and FINALLY finish Addison's 1st year scrapbook (that I am doing by hand - not digital). Addison's book is so hard because now the stuff is all over the place. I need to get organized and then finish it.

3. Family vacation and a trip for Chris and I. It is so important for us to take time for us, especially to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Who knows, our next trip may not be until we have been married for 15 years! You never want to put off something as important as us!

4. Chris has a big personal goal he would like to achieve...but we will see how that turns out.

5. Have all our kids (including Chris) potty trained. It will be a major challenge to get Asher potty trained (and Chris, too!). I have procrastinated long enough. Now, let it really begin! How nice will it be to have no diapers in the house...finally!

6. I have a goal of my own...to take better care of myself. I am getting tired of feeling like a slumpy mommy. It is time I start combing my hair, wearing more make up and wearing clothes without spit up stains on them. :)

7. Eat healthier, cook more, & exercise.

Alivia says her goal is to read books all by herself (and I think she means big, major books). Addison will need to give up her taggie before she turns 4. And, Asher, well Asher will be potty trained in 2010.

Looks like we have our work cut out for us. Let's get started! Happy New Year!
