What's Asher Up To Now?

"Mess!" Asher says!Clean up, clean up, everyone clean up!

Asher is now 19 months old. He is raring to go, too! He has been climbing up the big ladder and slide on the big play set (we have a smaller slide too) with ease for 1 1/2 months or so now. He needs to be reminded to go down the slide feet first instead of head first, though. I also have to stop him from hanging like a monkey from the ladder and falling to the ground like Alivia and Addi do. Seriously, does he want a broken bone? He likes to try any crazy stunt that his sisters are doing, at least once. Like, they like to jump off of the step stools or the ottomans. So, Asher grunts as he tries to climb on top of them, standing high and then jumps to the floor. He gets all excited when he lands on his feet without falling to his knees. He is now into getting inside of the toy box and taking everything out of it. If his sisters are playing with their dolls, he will just pitch all of his cars and trucks outside of the box onto the floor. But, if Alivia happens to be in the room, he yells at her, "TRUCK!" or "BLOCK!" to get her attention. Asher hands Alivia each toy, telling her what it is, and she takes it across the room to the table. Now, if he can not say the word, like monkey, he hums it -"HUMM MUMM" and I think he thinks he is saying it! This goes on until the box is empty. Then, I am lucky, they clean up all the toys. All the kids pitch in cleaning up because this is their game!

I mentioned that Asher likes to hum words he can not say. Well, he hums, "Thank you" too, which is a word he says a lot. He will try to say anything, and if he can't say it, he will either just look at me or hum it. It is so funny! He said "Addi" for the first time today, but has said something that sounds like "Alivia" for a while now. Funny, I do not hardly notice the humming anymore because I know what he is saying anyway. I guess it will take him a while to actually say the word because he really does not have to!

The other funny thing he has been doing for a while now is sticking his head on the floor and waiting for me to push him over for a forward roll (summersault). He will sit there for a long time waiting, too, for his big push. Then, he will do it over and over again!

And, one last funny thing. He likes to shoot hoops with his basketball in his room. The hoop? His crib. This will entertain him for a long time.

Oh, to be a boy...
