It is so hard to believe that our little girl, Addison, is now 3! Yikes! It seems like yesterday and Alivia was turning 3, or was it yesterday when Addison had her 2nd birthday?! Where has the time gone?!
The year that our kids turn 3 seems to be an exciting year. It is the first time they really get into their birthdays. Now, keep in mind, we make birthdays a big deal around here anyway, talking about them months in advance. Addison, however, was quite excited.
Addison woke up early, as usual, with a little surprise for me (a not so good one). Anyway, Addison ate her cocoa puffs outside and waited for everyone to wake up. Once they did, it was present time (of the good kind)! Addison was so excited to get a little pram stroller, a baby in a sling carrier, a super soaker water toy (Alivia got one too!), boats to take to the pool, Dot Art, and a Dora Purse. Alivia had a difficult time with Addison getting new toys and attention this year. I think it was because she liked the things that Addison got, too, and just wanted to be able to play with them. We spent the morning playing with the new toys, playing outside, and getting ready for the party.
Her party began at 3, and she was so excited to see everyone! She received many more baby things, like a dolly pack n play, a crying baby that she can give a bottle, clothes, swim toys (Addison is not a fan of the pool), Dora cooler/back pack, a chair just her size and more! She was so excited to get her new things! She was shy as we sang Happy Birthday to Addison over her purse cake! She gave her cousins sand and pool toys as a thank you for coming to her party (she specifically asked that we invite "kids" to her party this year).
At 3 years old, Addison is no longer our baby girl in so many ways, She has given up her taggie, no longer asking for it. We do, however, catch her sucking her thumb upon occasion with a tag she finds on other items, such as in her flip flops!, on blankets, etc. She talks so much better that she has given up the taggie though (Before she always had her thumb in her mouth when when she talked. Or, she would not talk because she had the taggie). After I don't know how long, we are still having #2 accidents in our panties at night! She refuses to wear a diaper, so it brings lots of laundry my way. She will only go #2 in the potty if I wake her at 10PM and take her to the potty. We are not sure why she just will not go during the day! She has been potty trained, other than that, since last fall, I believe. The Dr has now suggested having her try to go potty after breakfast and dinner and seeing if she will at go that way.
Addison does not like the public pools, but likes the baby pool at home and the slip n slide. She gets cold really easy, and then she wants to get out. Addison is NOT quiet. She is our loudest child by far, screaming her way through the house. She cries a lot, too, because Alivia or Asher are picking on her. Alivia and Addison get along well, generally. They play babies, push each other on the swings, or play cats. However, Addison and Asher only get along if Alivia is not around. They are quite rough with each other. Addi pushes Asher down, and in turn, Asher pulls at her hair! And, that is when it gets really loud! Addison liked to change her clothes numerous times a day. All of a sudden, Addison is gone. Oh, she is up in her room changing her clothes. She insists that I pick out her outfit the night before so she can get dressed by herself in the morning! If she likes clothes at 3, I think we are in trouble!
Addison likes to play with her babies and take them everywhere. She generally takes a baby, carseat and either a little zip up cooler or a purse full of baby bottles with us in the car wherever we go. This is why she had the purse cake! She goes to bed at 8, but plays until 8:30 or 9, either in her room or running back and forth to Alivia's room (which we DO NOT like!). She has been waking at 6:30 in the morning since losing her taggie (it used to be 7:30-8am which we liked better). She typically takes one nap from 12:30-2:30. She tends to be very timid in public, sticking close to Mommy's side. Addi is enrolled in preschool for the fall 2 mornings a week, but we will see if she is ready to go.
At Addison's 3 year appointment, Addison was 27lb! (WOOH! That is up 5 lbs since her 2 year check up!) at 13% and 36 1/4 inches tall at 25% . She liked Dr. Calderon since he did not give her any shots this year. Whew!
We have to enjoy every moment because it will feel like tomorrow when Addison turns 4 (Oh No!)!
