Aksarben Village: Farmer's Market

On Sunday, we loaded up and went to the Farmer's Market at Aksarben Village near 72nd and Center Street in Omaha. We went once last summer, and it turned into a total nightmare (Asher crying and throwing a huge tantrum as Chris carried him kicking and screaming to the car).

This year, we hoped for the best, but we came prepared. We packed drinks!! It was HOT, 90 degrees, by the time we arrived at 10 am! With the people, dogs, cooking, tents...it just seemed hotter. They have a variety of venders: farm-fresh produce, bedding plants, fresh flowers, gourmet baked goods, meats, cheeses, lots of bread venders and much more! The kids got their own kettle corn, played at the playground, had a balloon animal made for them, before we went in and had a cupcake at Jones Bros. Cupcakes, who was featured on Cupcake Wars. The kids were less than thankful for their treats, something Chris and I clearly need to work on. All in all, it was a fun morning...but perhaps too many treats. We now look forward to making zucchini bread and having sweet corn.

Want to go to the Farmer's Market in Aksarben Village? It is on Sundays, 9-1, bring drinks, swimming suits (if the kids want to run through the splash pad), cash and an appetite. Have fun!

Making a splash on a Sunday Afternoon!
