Thanksgiving Eve Day

Addison, Asher and Alivia with Great Grandpa Austin
On Wednesday, the kids and I set out to wish the Grandparents that we were not going to be seeing on Thanksgiving a Happy Thanksgiving. We, of course, did not come empty handed. We gave them all our special pumpkin bread, and the kids gave out many hugs and kisses. Hopefully it was a good surprise for the Grandparents, as the kids had a blast. They filled up their time in the afternoon with playdates. What a full day!

Catching Up

I just can not keep up lately. I have no motivation to do anything. It takes me so long to do anything as the one foot girl that I just do not do it. My house...a mess. The laundry...in baskets everywhere. I do have a little excuse here as my dryer was broken and needed repaired. Once repaired, I am now playing catch up. My 365 project... 2 days behind and counting. And, the recent shots, well, suck. I just do not have any motivation! This blog...also behind. But, I will try and catch up. So...last week Addison had strep Again. She finished her antibiotic on Wednesday and had strep again Thursday havin to come home from school early. Poor thing! She is much better now and plans on retuning to school tomorrow with her homework completed in hand. Asher finished basketball last week at the YMCA. It was so cute to watch 3 and 4 year olds play. Now, he is going to try hockey! Alivia had a sleepover at her bff's Zoe's house on Friday. Meanwhile Chris and I nearly finished our Christmas shopping. Yeah! I hope to be done by Friday, missing the thanksgiving deadline this year because one item I want to try and get on black Friday online. Chris and I had a blast shopping. This was our second night out in 2 weeks, so we are feeling a bit spoiled. Christmas came early for Chris and I. We both our happy owners do iPads now! I am blogging from mine now! Mine is the family one, mostly containing kids apps, but at night it is all mine. At Christmas we can now enjoy what the kids are opening! My silly broken foot is feeling much better. The purple cast comes of this Tuesday with the boot coming off in a couple weeks. I can't wait! Our one and only phone bit the dust last week, having problems even staying on through a call. So, Chris and I both got phones. Yes, that is right, Chris finally has a phone. Let's just hope he keeps it on and answers it! Now people that want to talk to him and only him have no excuse, hopefully. Oh, we are going to have new neighbors, Chris' parents. They sold their home in Millard and are building a home in Shadow lake near our home, backing to the lake. They say they will not bug us, but we plan on bugging them! Only joking, at least I think anyway.

October in Review

Finally.

I am getting later and later with these monthly updates. Perhaps it because I take so many pictures that it just takes me forever to get through them all.

It is hard to believe that another month is in the record books. We did the usual things of going to the Children's museum, Forest, and the zoo, and then added in a birthday party for Boppa Bill, Vala's Pumpkin Patch, the slides at the Gene Leahy Mall, tumbling for Asher, Heron's Haven and more. It was a fun, yet busy month. Chris and I started the insanity workout (which did not end well, I may add), but it was fun to do together while it lasted.

Hope you are all doing well!

Broken Foot Dressed in Purple

Now I'm a Sexy Chick (I used to dance to this in Zumba...boy how I miss it!!).

Today my wonderful Mom came down so I could go to the Dr to get my foot looked at again and treated. With Addi and Alivia home with strep, I could hardly take them into the doctor with me. I do have my limits (OB apts I can do, taking my sick kids with me to the Dr. is where I draw the line! :)).

Anyway, when presented with the option to have a hard cast with crutches or a soft cast with a walking boot, I selected the latter. I was told that either of these methods would provide faster healing over just the shoe I had and wrapping it. A soft cast is a layer of some soft wrap surrounded by a layer of wrap in purple (I selected that color as they did not have pink! :) ). This boot, all $400!!! of it, is so big and heavy that I feel like I am lifting weights every time I step with it. I guess it beats crutches, but still. Chris wondered why I could not have just stuck a board under my foot and ducted taped it. He was kidding, at least I think he was.  I know I would much rather have spent $400 on some cool boots at Von Maur than this boulder of a boot, but I will do what they say I have to do so I can get back to my life.

Not working out is killing me. Really, I am trying not to think about it. But, I watch Chris get up early nearly every day to work out than do Insanity every night, and I feel just plain lazy.

But, really, I can not find anything to do on one foot other than upper body stuff. I will just sit out I guess. Funny, the nurse who checked me in at the Dr. just started Insanity last night. I wonder if she will still be doing it at my 2 week check up.

So, I have this sexy book and soft cast on for 2 weeks, than more xrays (cha ching$) and then they will probably remove the cast and just have me wear the boot for 2 more weeks. Then I will return for more x-rays (cha ching$$$) to make sure it is healed enough to take off the sexy boot. So in 4 weeks I may be free, 6 weeks may be free to yoga. Running maybe by Christmas??

Fun.

So, I guess I will just sit here for the next few weeks and chill.

Sexy Chick, huh?

Maybe I can catch up on my reading. I doubt it.

Disguising The Turkey Project Take 2

Remember Alivia's project in Kindergarten when she had to disguise Tom Turkey so he would not be eaten at Thanksgiving Dinner? Okay, skip ahead 2 years and to a completely different school and we have the same project with Addison!

Alivia decorated her little turkey as a clown. When we asked Addison how she wanted to decorate her turkey, she wanted hers to look like Spider Girl!

Taking advantage of Addison being home bound with strep throat, Chris and Addison set out to disguise the turkey to look like Spider Girl. Look at their amazing creation!! Again, I can hardly tell it is a turkey!! :)

And here was Alivia's finished project 2 years ago...
UPDATE: Here is the disguised turkey in 2013!!

Little Basketball Player

That's right, Asher is playing basketball. Okay, that may be pushing it. Asher is learning to play basketball. Okay, that is more like it.

Asher is taking a fundamentals class at the YMCA on Fridays with her friends Will and Xander, among many other little boys. Initially, Asher was in tears, not wanting me to leave his side. He soon warmed up and loved it. I was impressed with what these little 3 and 4 year olds could do! For a short little boy, Asher did quite well, too, dribbling and bouncing the balls with the other boys.

So cute. Now, let's see how he does this week!

Sick, Yet Again

Sunday morning started off early, since we lost an hour (who likes to lose an hour of sleep anyway?). Addison was not herself. She refused breakfast, selecting to lay on the sofa and watch the news. Really? She felt warm, complained of a sore throat, but refused all medicine. At noon, and several little catnaps later, I took her temp to find it at 104! Really?! So, Motrin later, she went to bed.

After her nap, she was a little better, walking around outside with Pippa while I cleaned out the van a bit. But, as the Motrin wore off, so did Addison. Back to the couch she went and stayed all night.

About 6, Alivia, who had been playing with friends all day, started to complain of a sore throat, too. Well, she did not have an elevated temperature, so I was hoping she just wanted to stay home from school.

That is until 4 AM. Alivia and Addison both woke crying, complaining of sore throats, hot with fevers.

This morning, a visit to the Doctor found they both had strep throat. Alivia had nausea and vomiting by this point along with her dreary, teary, quite miserable self.

At least we know what it is, something Omnicef can fix (Alivia is allergic to PCNs). I am hoping they can return to school by tomorrow noon, maybe Wednesday at the latest. Grandma Bet is coming in the morning so I can go to this foot Dr without having 3 sick kiddos to suffer along with me.

Let's hope we are all on the mind, at least for a while.
Nothing better than being sick and watching movies.

A Little Broken

So, I have been running for years...and I mean years. I just recently started Zumba, which I completely love. Then, I started Insanity with Chris. Let's get one thing straight, with all of this, I have gained 10 lbs in about a year. Really. I have no clothes that will fit for winter so I am wearing yoga pants 24/7. Nice huh?

Seriously.

Anyway, the Insanity was kicking my butt, or my feet I should say. After week 1, I started complaining that my feet hurt. I thought it was my shoes, so I stopped wearing them during Insanity. But, I really wanted to keep up the Insanity, for anything else but to say I did it and could complete the 60 days. I kept running and kept going to Zumba (it is just too fun to miss), too, because those are my fun escapes from reality and stress relievers. Really, a stay at home mom has stress, too. I know, shocking, right?

So, I stopped running last week for many reasons, but mostly to give my left foot a break. It was becoming more and more painful to do Insanity. So I did not run or go to Zumba Thursday through Monday. So, Tuesday, it was a beautiful day and snow was in the forecast for Wednesday (which turned out to be right). I so wanted to go running. So, I did. I ran my normal course, making it probably 4 to 4 1/2 miles when...OMG...I think I am going to die!! My foot was so painful I could hardly stand it. I walked, but it felt like my bones were coming through my shoes, so I hobbled home. I fell into the house telling Chris, "I do believe I broke my foot." I was now limping. Chris, on the other hand, was pretty sure it was just a bad bruise and to just give it a couple days. Before going to bed that night, I bumped my foot sending me to the floor. Seriously, this must be one heck of a bruise...ouch!! I kinda knew it had to be more than a bruise, but I tried to listen to Chris' "It is just a bruise."

A couple days I gave it. Friday morning I woke to my swollen foot into my toes and it feeling worse than the day before. Express Care and 3 x-rays later, I found out it is broken. Now I am wearing a sexy boot waiting for my appointment on Tuesday to find out what further I need to do, if anything.

It does feel better today actually. So, the boot does help. So...we will see. Let's pray no crutches or itchy cast because I will probably freak!

Little Divas

Today we took the girls to Concepts Salon in Omaha with Addison's friend Kate and her Mom Gina. The girls had their appointments at the same time, getting their hair cut, styled, nails painted and a little make up applied. Super cute and fun! After a crazy lunch, the girls went to Kate's to watch a movie and play. It was a fun day!

Happy November at the Zoo

Yesterday Asher and I met our friends Krissa and Will at the zoo to soak up the beautiful fall weather before the cold blew in. It was beautiful! The trees had mostly changed bringing the sights and sounds of autumn without the cold. It was nearly 70 degrees as we walked through the exhibits checking out the animals. Asher's favorite: the black bear. He also liked the "white bear" and the tiger. It was fun and beautiful day!

Trick or Treating in Shadow Lake

Shadow Lake Towne Center had a trick or treating event on Saturday. After discussing it with friends, the kids decided they wanted to go. So, we loaded up and went down there at 1:20. It was CRAZY! There were people and kids everywhere. The kids waiting at some places 10 minutes to get a tootsie roll or to find out the store was out of candy. I guess it was good practice for the next day, but we will skip this event in the future.

I guess the kids had fun...and that is what is important, I guess.

Happy Halloween 2011

Halloween 2011 was a beautiful day and evening. The kids dressed as spiders this year - Asher as Spiderman, Alivia and Addison as Spider Girls (who knew, right?). That is what they wanted to be!

We set out shortly after 6 when it was still light and warmer out. The kids ran to the first houses, excited to see what they would get for treats. After 2 blocks, Addison was in the wagon with her candy, done. She could care less if she got any more candy. She ended up sitting in the wagon (eating as it turned out) while Asher, Alivia and I continued trick or treating. Just before we arrived at the McMullan household, Asher climbed into the wagon, too. Alivia kept on going until we walked back home.

What a fun night! The kids's favorite: The big bag of candy with the attached  $1 bill. Chris' favorite: The "daddy juice" aka Bud Light he got at the house across the street from the McMullans house (I do believe we will be returning there again...). The kids area already planning for the next Halloween!

Happy Halloween from ours to yours...
