Chris is Right!

On a usual Sunday from 12-3 PM, Chris is doing the Open House while I take the kids out to find something fun to fill our Sunday with. Well, today, after not having any sleep since waking yesterday morning (that's right, SATURDAY MORNING) at 6:30, Chris offered the Open House to me and he would take the kids out. I did hesitate until I heard Chris had a plan to go to his parents' house. Okay, sign me up for the open house! How hard can it be, right?

After doing the open houses, Chris always wants to pull the FSBO sign. I am always like, come on here...we decided we want to move, let's give this a go. We can not be wishy washy with this! We have gone to so much work to get to this point. Until...today.

I have had 3 families in the last hour come through and 2 were both quite interested. One had their home on the market and are looking to move up. The other had a 3 bedroom, 3 kids, Mom and Dad, as well as a Grandma living with them! UGH! They are crammed. The mom was so excited she sent their 5 year old little girl up to pick out her room. She came down and told me she wants Alivia's room (not sure Alivia is ready to hear that until she picks out her new room!). That couple was quite excited, asking many questions about our home, neighborhood, etc. They really liked our home, and that was clear. Chris has told me this of many couples before, and we never hear back from them. Many of them have to get loan approval, have to sell their home first, etc, so it is just a matter of time. I think it will go from no offers to 2 in a week. After hearing all the nice compliments, it does make me sad. Chris and I put our hearts into our first home. We brought home our babies to this home. I learned how to decorate, and Chris and I both found our modern taste in this home.

God has a plan for us. I am just waiting to see what it is and where we will live. Since Chris and I can not seem to decide, we will leave it in His hands and see.

P.S. I have no problem admitting to Chris he is right, either!

P.S. again: Had 6 people walk through total.

Mommy Gets Tired, too

I think I need to point something out here....MOMMY GETS TIRED TOO. It seems that I am not supposed to ever run out of gas...and I am!

Keeping a home spotless just in case someone calls and wants to see our home is seriously exhausting with 3 kids. It may be difficult without kids, but having 3 little ones messing it up all day long is a constant battle. They are generally pretty good, but like all kids, they have their moments. Additionally, I continue to do loads and loads of Addison's laundry for her minor to major accidents because "I just don't want to" go potty in the potty. Oh, gotta love that! In a few short months, I will begin potty training Asher. And, I probably will still be potty training Addison. Let's just say, I get tired just thinking about (and probably stinky).

So, the last few nights I stayed up late posting our home on any for sale by owner website I could find. I have not posted it in our paper yet. It is $70 for 1 week (one Sunday), $150 for 2 weeks or $200 for one month. Seriously! That is ridiculous! I had a friend place an ad and not get a single call from it! So, in the mean time, we are holding our cash. Neighbors nearby put their home on the market a couple days ago. It is a ranch and not a 2 story like our home, but it is in a similar price range. So, we may get some of their traffic. Both the neighbor and another home similar to our floor plan are having open houses this weekend. They ARE on the MLS since they are both with real estate agents. So, we hope to take advantage of that by placing our open house signs near theirs to perhaps draw some people to our home after visiting theirs. If we get no visitors during this weekend's showing, we will empty our checkbooks for the OWH!

In the meantime...I will clean, do laundry, and clean some more. I can't say I would recommend FSBO at this point. I would pay $15000 at this point to get this house sold quickly so we can move!

Scared FSBO

Yes, like there were running blogs, there may be a lot of FSBO posts coming as well. Like it or stop reading, ya know? :)

Chris had yet another showing tonight. We are gathering why people get real estate agents (other than they have lots of money to give away in commissions). The couple tonight had a lot, and I mean a lot, of questions. Where's this, why's that? and how about that? Then...security questions. Chris is so honest. Too honest sometimes. Scary honest. Now...I will be sitting on the edge of my chair thinking someone is going to rob me during the day because they think they may be able to outwit our security system. How do we know these people are really looking to buy our home? How do we know they are not casing our home to rob us. Okay, let's get real here. Unless someone wants a big doll house, some little kids books, or a few loud toys, they are not going to find what they are looking for here. But who knows what scary people are looking for these days unless you are one of them? (I know, I know...BUT I AM SCARY!). The funny thing is...we thought we were smart! Ha!

Meanwhile, Chris sells these people (with his quiet tone they probably tend to take him more seriously) with all the things we have done to the home. Other than building it, we have more or less done everything else so take credit (good and bad I guess). However, in selling the home, Chris reconsiders again, "Why are we moving?" with every comment..."We installed the fence, all the landscaping, the cobblestone all the way around the house, the 10 trees and many bushes and flowers." Or on the inside, "We finished the basement, installing a second fireplace and a 5th bedroom with a day light window." And then Chris gets comments like, "Wow...we have not see a backyard to flat and big...this is nice." Oh, great...are we going to be stuck in some hole when we move with NO BACKYARD or with one big hill?  Seriously, we have driven past really nice homes with backyards that are one big hill or homes that have NOTHING for a back yard (no room even for a playset). Now who would want that? And Chris is thinking about when he planted all the trees, some with my Dad's help, and not so sure my dad is going to want to help this time (and my parents just planted 100's of trees on their farm...I am finding it highly unlikely they even want to look at a tree at this point!).

Let's just say, at this point, we are scared and tired FSBO...and we are only 1 week into it. Oh Lord...help us.
